Tape Me to Freedom
by Andrew Jones and Caden Swart
Book Summary
In the book Refugee, there are three kids that are all trying to get to freedom. One of the kids is jewish and his father was sent off to a concentration camp. Then they left on a boat. Another one of the kids is forced to leave his home with his family. The last kid chose to leave cuba and go to Miami.
They all go on a boat and they could use the boat we built.
Challenge One
For our project, we made a boat with an unbreakable, waterproof hull using duct tape. There is a sleeping/living quarters. There is a place in the back of the boat that is a driver’s area/captains quarters. The characters from our book could use our boat to escape.
Andrew & Caden,
I think duct tape is an excellent medium for creating something that will not break or be damaged. Good idea. Thanks for sharing your invention!

The boat you build sure would be a good one for these children. You thought of some important aspects of a good escape boat. Nice work.
