WCU Staff Senate is starting a series titled “Meet a Human Resources Representative.” This series allows faculty/staff across campus to meet our Human Resources staff and learn a few things about them. The next Human Resources Staff representative we will showcase is Nancy Ford. Nancy has been working at WCU for eight years, all of which have been in the HR Department. She has worked in Human Resources for a total of 34 years. Nancy started out her career working in behavioral health with the chronically mentally ill.  After a move when she was unable to find something in her field, she took a position as an HR Assistant, the satisfaction in helping employees onboard, and then navigate the ins and outs of their employment changed her career path.  She returned to behavioral health in human resources before making the change to higher education with Western Carolina University in 2015.

Nancy’s title is Director of Employee Relations, Talent Acquisition & Development.  She supervises all employee relations functions, recruitment and onboarding for all position types, non-work study student employment, and professional development activities for staff and faculty.

Her favorite place to eat on campus is Einstein’s Bagels. When Nancy was asked what she likes most about working at WCU, she said “I love HR, and doing HR in higher education here at WCU has been and is a joy.”
