WCU’s Opening Assembly is a tradition that brings campus together to start a new academic year. It sets the precedent of what is to come in the next year. This year the WCU Bookstore and the Chancellor’s Office organized a raffle drawing of different swag and door prizes for those that were in attendance.
One thing that rings true with WCU’s leadership is the continued effort of shared governance. Both Faculty Senate and Staff Senate Chairs have the opportunity each year to give remarks and welcome everyone back to campus. This year Dr. Basel Alsayyed, Faculty Senate Chair, and Mrs. Catherine MacCallum, Staff Senate Chair, gave their remarks before Chancellor Kelli Brown provided updates to campus, shared goals and gave call to action items in her remarks.
