Students Using Panopto

Panopto is primarily a way for faculty to share content with students, but, many faculty are finding success in also using it as a way for students to submit video content for your course.

You will need to enable Panopto in the course.  You will need to go to the settings gear and “Overview” to create the assignments folder.

Students can then follow the instructions in the step sheet, click to download and distribute student instructions

How to Move Your Blackboard Video Files to Panopto

Well, the FPA Media server is no longer with us.  We have made a very strong effort to keep all of the files that are currently embedded in the current crop of Blackboard courses working so that courses are not disrupted.

For files that have not been moved to Panopto, we have a temporary solution that will keep them running through the remainder of the Fall 2016 semester, but this is not a permanent situation.

If you have media files that are connected to your courses, please make certain that they are on a server or service you control (i.e. a personal You Tube Channel, your personal Vimeo account, etc.) or that they are moved to Panopto by December of 2016.

The previous method of logging into the FPA server will not work, but, be of good cheer, the new way is much more simple:

  • Click on the link in your Blackboard Course
  • If it does not open in a Panopto viewer, or take you to another web service (like YouTube), it is very likely that you are on our “Last-chance” video server.  If you right click the link and “Save Source As” to your computer, or, alternatively, do the same thing with the video that plays in the dark server box, you should be able to download the file.
  • You can then upload it to Panopto

Of course, we are always happy to help you out.  Feel free to call or email Jonathan Wade for more information.
